 My Name is Nicole

I’m a counsellor and somatic psychotherapist. I offer in-person sessions in York and also proudly work with clients from five countries online, providing effective online therapy that offers the same depth and impact as in-person sessions. My work is profoundly shaped by the transformative insights of Gabor Maté’s trauma-based approach. This framework, which deeply impacted my own life, is all about guiding you with unconditional acceptance and curiosity toward deep self-acceptance and a more authentic, fulfilled life.

I’m here to help you address challenges such as ADHD, compassion fatigue, anxiety relief, depression counselling, difficult life situations, stress-related physical conditions, and more. My holistic therapy practice is built on a commitment to authenticity and a trauma-informed approach to your well-being, where every part of you is welcome for emotional healing and personal growth.

My Expertise

 My journey into helping others began with a lifelong fascination with the human mind. I studied psychology and later, integrative psychotherapy at the Minster Centre in London. I recognized at that young age that I wasn’t fully ready to guide others through their deepest struggles. I knew I needed more lived experience, more personal understanding and healing.

Like Gabor himself, I became a high school English teacher in the UK and abroad, gaining invaluable insights into human behaviour, the challenges young people face, and the profound link between mental and emotional well-being and a person’s ability to learn and thrive. As a pastoral leader, I mentored countless teenagers through complex issues including behavioural challenges, low self-esteem, and anxiety. I witnessed firsthand how conventional systems often fell short in truly supporting these struggling individuals.

It was this direct experience, combined with my continued personal exploration, that reignited my original calling with a new clarity and purpose. I transitioned from teaching to establish my animal sanctuary, learning much about the links between trauma in animals and humas and later dedicated myself to further trauma research and training in counselling and psychotherapy. My unique blend of experiences, coupled with my deep personal healing, now fuels my passion for guiding others.

The therapeutic methods I use are versatile and can help anyone facing any issue, big or small. My experience has given me special knowledge in areas such as compassion fatigue, CPTSD, PTSD, ADHD, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, and compound grief

My therapeutic philosophy is deeply informed by the holistic, trauma-informed insights of leading minds like Gabor Maté (whose Compassionate Inquiry forms the bedrock of my practice), Bessel van der Kolk, and Peter Levine. This integrated understanding allows us to explore how mental, physical, and emotional experiences are interconnected, leading to comprehensive healing.

My primary method, Gabor Maté’s Compassionate Inquiry, is a collaborative journey. I don’t see myself as the expert in your life, but rather a compassionate guide. I walk beside you, fully trusting that you hold all the answers and inner resources necessary for your healing and growth. We will work together to uncover and access this innate wisdom, creating a path uniquely tailored to your journey toward greater authenticity and autonomy.

This powerful method is incredibly versatile, applicable to a wide spectrum of issues. My personal experience and specialized knowledge allow me to offer particular insight into ADHD (as an individual with ADHD myself), compassion fatigue, anxiety, and depression, among many other conditions.
